AAPS Annual Meeting Abstracts
More than 2000 invited and contributed paper presentations will be made at this
year’s meeting. The abstracts and biographies of invited speakers and a
complete program outline for the meeting will be available online. Abstracts
will only be released online and on CD-ROM. A printed book containing all of
the abstracts will be available for sale at the Meeting.
IMPORTANT:
The CD-ROM will be sent in advance of the meeting only to those whose
registrations are received by
August 10, 2001.
Registrations received after that date may obtain their CD-ROM at AAPS
Registration in the Colorado Convention Center.
Graduate Students
We are extending a special invitation to graduate students to join us for the
largest gathering of pharmaceutical scientists in the world! The 2001 AAPS
Annual Meeting and Exposition offers the opportunity to learn, network and
explore new scientific research and technologies.

Graduate Students: Sign up now to become a Short Course Assistant Moderator at
this year’s Annual Meeting and Exposition!
This is one way to become a part of the Annual Meeting and Exposition by
playing a significant role in helping the Short Courses run smoothly and
effectively. Also, you will be able to attend the short course and receive
course materials without charge. Short Course Assistant Moderator
responsibilities include assisting the moderators during the course; greeting
and assisting the speakers; monitoring room capacity; and providing assistance
with audio/visual equipment and/or lights.
Two Assistant Moderators will be selected for each Short Course. If more than
two applications are received for a course, the selections will be carried out
by a random drawing among applicants. You may apply for up to three Short
Courses. Assistant Moderator positions are not transferable.
Short Course Assistant Moderator
positions are available only to Graduate Students. To qualify you must mail
or fax the application so that it will be received by
August 31, 2001.

Child Care Services
Partially Sponsored by Anapharm and BAS
Child care services will be available on-site at the Colorado Convention Center
during the AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition. These services will be provided
by The New Thomas Learning Centers of Colorado, a licensed, insured child care
corporation with 25 years of experience.
Children from birth to 12 years of age are welcome. While parents are enjoying
the meeting, the children are enjoying and exploring arts and crafts, games,
puzzles and toys. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided.
Please note:
Parents must remain on-site at the Convention Center.
Reservations are recommended. Children not pre-registered will be accepted on a
space available basis only. To arrange for child care services in advance,
complete the
Child Care Pre-Registration Form.
About Children
Due to liquor being served at the evening receptions, we restrict children (18
years and younger) from attending. Children will also be restricted from
entering the Exposition Hall and Poster Sessions at all times. Our program is
geared for adult participation and we appreciate your cooperation and
understanding.
Speaker Ready Room
The Speaker Ready Room is located in the Colorado Convention Center and
speakers are required to sign in at the Speaker Ready Room one day or minimally
two hours prior to their session.
The audio visual equipment staff will confirm your advance equipment request
and answer any audio visual questions. They will also confirm your arrival with
the appropriate session moderator when he/she checks in. Moderators are
required to stop by the Speaker Ready Room to confirm speaker attendance and
receive any late breaking announcements.
Press Room
AAPS welcomes professional journalists and science writers to attend the AAPS
Annual Meeting and Exposition. A Press Room is provided for members of the
press to research and write articles, review publications and materials, and
conduct interviews. Registration packets, news releases, AAPS background
information, notices of meeting briefings and newsworthy events, press kits and
information from exhibiting companies are provided. The Press Room will be
located in the Colorado Convention Center and the hours of operation will be:

International Lounge
AAPS provides an International Lounge as a meeting place for attendees from
around the world. It can serve as a place to hold small one-on-one business
meetings or to network with other international attendees. Located at the
Colorado Convention Center, attendees MUST be registered for the meeting to use
the Lounge.
Expocard

Expocard is your key to product information and the Electronic Message
Center. As an electronic business card, Expocard is your fast and easy way to
provide exhibitors your name and address. Carry your Expocard with you to leave
and retrieve messages at the Electronic Message Center located at the Colorado
Convention Center. You will also be able to send and receive your office and
home e-mail while at the Annual Meeting and Exposition.
Lost Badges and Expocards
AAPS will charge $5 on-site to replace any lost badge and/or Expocard. This
charge is necessary, since AAPS is charged for each badge and Expocard printed.
Smoking Policy
By AAPS policy, smoking is prohibited in the meeting rooms and the exhibit hall.
What to Wear
Casual business attire is the standard dress code. For October, you can expect
temperatures in the low 60s during the day and high 30s at night.
Recycling
Your badge holder and Expocard are recyclable. Please help AAPS run a greener
convention by recycling your badge holder and Expocard at the end of the
meeting. Receptacle boxes for the badge holders and Expocards will be located
in various places in the Colorado Convention Center.
Message Center

Located at the Colorado Convention Center, AAPS will again provide an
Electronic Message Center with full internet access. Stay in touch with the
office, home, and fellow registrants while in Denver. To access your office or
home email, you will need the following information: your mail server address,
your login name, and your password.
