Instructions for Manuscript Preparation
1. The Manuscript
- The images, if saved as separate files, should
be saved in popular formats (.jpg, .tif, or .gif). Clearly
indicate in the text each image's position.
- Authors may provide the URL of ancillary material or upload previously published reference papers or in-press papers during the submission process, if such documentation is needed for the review of the submitted paper. For reference and in-press papers not available to the author electronically, the author must send five copies by overnight courier to the AAPS PharmSci Editorial Office at the time of on-line submission.
2. The Images
- We will support many of the popular file
formats. Your file formats may be mixed.
- For 3D or interactive images or figures, a
still picture should be included as well.
- All images, when published, will appear in a pop-up window.
3. Ancillary Materials
Ancillary materials (text, images, videos, and audio recordings) can be linked to the article, but do not represent part of the peer-reviewed material. This material is retrieved from either a remote server or web site. Neither AAPS PharmSci nor AAPS is the owner or the custodian of such links and is therefore not responsible for its content, accuracy, or accessibility.
Manuscript Format
Manuscripts must be in English, be double-spaced, have the right justification removed, and use Symbol font for special characters. AAPS PharmSci adheres to the American Medical Association (AMA) style.
Text should be organized into the following sections: Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgments, Footnotes, References, Tables, and Figure Legends.
Title Page and Key Words:
The contents of traditional title pages are also covered in the submission module. In order to provide for a searchable journal, requirements during submission include the title of the article, author names and affiliations, the corresponding author's contact information, and an abstract. These elements (aside from the contact information) still need to be included in the text of manuscripts submitted.
Authors need to choose 3 to 5 key words that describe the content of the manuscript being submitted.
Abstract:
Abstracts may be no more than 250 words and should concisely convey the purpose of the study, methods, results, and conclusions.
Acknowledgments:
All acknowledgments, including those for grant and financial support, should appear on a separate page before the reference section. It is mandatory that authors disclose all funding that enabled the research for manuscripts submitted to be undertaken. This does not apply to research performed solely in, and supported by, an industrial laboratory if the company is provided as the author's address.
References:
References should be typed on a separate page and numbered consecutively in the order that they are cited in the text. The style of the references should follow the examples given below:
- Journal Article

of mersalyl on microsomal drug oxidation: A rigid organization of the
electron transport chain. Arch. Biochem. 1971;143:318-329. - Book
