AAPS Offers Short Course on Patent Fundamentals
ARLINGTON, Va. - The American Association of Pharmaceutical
Scientists (AAPS) announces the availability of its latest in a series
of Education Anytime electronic education programs entitled "Patent Fundamentals
for Scientists."
The two-hour CD-ROM short course provides an overview of
the patent process for pharmaceutical scientists. The course contents
include the following topics:
- What is a Patent?
- What is an Invention?
- Determining Inventorship
- Searching Prior Art
- Claiming the Invention
- Drafting the Invention
- Filing the Application
- U.S Prosecution Overview
- Foreign Patent Practice
"The Education Anytime programs give participants opportunities
to partake in low-cost professional development activities without taking
time away from work and home, and the added expense of travel," said Andrew
Cohn, Professional Development Senior Technology Manager at AAPS.
The course was adapted from a presentation made at the 1999
AAPS Annual Meeting in New Orleans by Steven W. Collier, J.D., Ph.D. and
