AAPS ELECTED TO ASSOCIATIONS ADVANCE AMERICA HONOR ROLL
Alexandria, VA -- August 5, 1999 -- The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) has been elected to the Associations Advance America Honor Roll, a national awards competition sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), Washington, D.C.
AAPS received the award for its Education Anytime flagship online program, Formulating with Lipids, www.aaps.org/edumeet/anytime/lipcd.html. Education Anytime provides AAPS members and the scientific community with new venues for continuing professional development-one that enables wide participation without the need for travel, hotels, or time away from work or family. Courses are offered on CD-ROM, videotape or via the Education Anytime web site, depending on the nature of the content.
"AAPS' program truly embodies the spirit of the Associations Advance America campaign," said ASAE President Michael S. Olson, CAE. "It is an honor and an inspiration to showcase this activity as an example of the many contributions associations are making to advance American society."
Now in its ninth year, the prestigious Associations Advance America Awards recognizes associations that propel America forward-with innovative projects in education, skills training, standards-setting, business and social innovation, knowledge creation, citizenship and community service. Although association activities have a powerful impact on everyday life, they often go unnoticed by the general public.
AAPS is a professional, scientific society of more than 10,000 members employed in academia, industry, government and other research institutes worldwide. Founded in 1986, AAPS aims to advance science through the open exchange of scientific knowledge, serve as an information resource, and contribute to human health through pharmaceutical research and development.
