1999 AAPS ANNUAL MEETING ABSTRACTS DEBUT ONLINE

Access to 2,100+ Abstracts Open to Scientific Community Database Published as AAPS PharmSciSM Supplement

Alexandria, VA -- September 29, 1999 -- The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) today premiered an online database of the abstracts to be presented as contributed papers at the association's upcoming 1999 Annual Meeting, Nov. 14-18, in New Orleans.

The contributed papers cover a broad range of topics including analysis and pharmaceutical quality; biotechnology; clinical sciences; economic, marketing, and management sciences; medicinal and natural products chemistry; pharmaceutics and drug delivery; pharmaceutical technologies; pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and drug metabolism; and regulatory affairs. Scientists from every corner of the globe-including Australia, Brazil, China, Egypt, Estonia, Iran, Jordan, Korea, the Russian Federation, South Africa and Thailand-will present papers at the annual meeting. The selected papers are peer-reviewed by 100 scientists, known as screeners, before being accepted for presentation at the meeting.

The fully searchable database of abstracts can be accessed online at www.aaps.org. A unique characteristic of the online database is the personal itinerary feature. While searching the database, annual meeting attendees can build a personal itinerary for the meeting, selecting the sessions of greatest interest to them and planning which presentations to attend. The database includes all invited abstracts, in addition to the contributed paper abstracts and the full meeting program.

The online, print and CD-ROM versions of the 1999 AAPS Annual Meeting abstracts are released as Supplements to AAPS PharmSciSM, the association's electronic journal.

AAPS is a professional, scientific society of more than 10,000 members employed in academia, industry, government and other research institutes worldwide. Founded in 1986, AAPS aims to advance science through the open exchange of scientific knowledge, serve as an information resource, and contribute to human health through pharmaceutical research and development.
