AAPS ANNOUNCES 2000 LEADERSHIP
President-Elect and Members-At-Large Elected to Lead
Scientific Association
Alexandria, VA -- September 14, 1999 --
Ronald T. Borchardt, Ph.D., the Solon E. Summerfield Distinguished Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Kansas-Lawrence, has been voted President-Elect for the 9,500-member American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS). He joins 2000 AAPS President Richard Bergstrom, Ph.D., Immediate Past President Larry Augsburger, Ph.D., and Treasurer Maureen Donovan, Ph.D., as officers on the 2000 AAPS Executive Council.
New Members-at-Large include: Sandra R.B. Allerheiligen, Ph.D., Head of Drug Disposition in the Division of Toxicology and Drug Disposition at Eli Lilly and Company, and John Slattery, Ph.D., Professor of Pharmaceutics in the Department of Pharmaceutics and Associate Dean for Academic Programs, The Graduate School, University of Washington.
Newly-elected Section leaders include:
Diane L. Peterson, Ph.D., Vice-Chair, Analysis and Pharmaceutical Quality, along with Marta Hamilton, Ph.D., Secretary/Treasurer;
Siddharth J. Advant, Ph.D., Vice-Chair, Biotechnology;
Henry J. Pieniaszek, Jr., Ph.D., Vice-Chair, Clinical Sciences;
Prasanna Gore, Ph.D., Vice-Chair, Economic, Marketing, and Management Services, along with Craig A. Pedersen, Ph.D., Secretary;
P. Dan Cook, Ph.D., Vice-Chair, Medicinal and Natural Products Chemistry;
Bruce J. Aungst, Ph.D., Vice-Chair, Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery;
Philip R. Mayer, Ph.D., Vice-Chair, Pharmacokinetis, Pharmacodynamics and Drug Metabolism, along with David Y. Mitchell, Ph.D., Secretary;

These leaders assume their new roles on January 1, 2000.
