Policy for Submission of Commentary
Correspondents select suitable articles in specialty areas for display with title and abstract, linked to PubMed.
Each Correspondent will be assigned to cover 3-4 specialty areas selected from the PubMed Search menu. The assigned areas can be viewed by clicking on the name of the Correspondent. Moreover, Correspondents provide brief Commentaries on select articles. Alternatively, anyone can submit Commentaries on articles of special interest to one of the Correspondents in the appropriate specialty area. The Correspondents screen the submissions for suitability and forward any Commentary with their recommendations to the Editor-in-Chief for final editorial decision. The recommendation can include acceptance, rejection, modification of text, or independent review of the merit of the Commentary by experts. The usual format of a Commentary is a ~500 word essay. However, Commentaries can also evolve into detailed analysis of research in one or more articles.
Should a Commentary be critical of the published work, the authors of the article will have the opportunity to submit a rebuttal - the process being similar to the handling of a Letter to the Editor.
The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to engage independent referees to judge on the merit of a critical review and makes the final decision on publication.
Correspondents are appointed for 2 year periods and can be reappointed for additonal two-year periods.
Individuals interested in becoming a Correspondent should contact the Editor-in-Chief.
