Technical Platform and Requirements:

This 45-minute course is contained within a standard CD-ROM. Requirements include a 486 or faster PC running Windows 9x, a CD-ROM player,  sound card, and speakers. Included on the disk is a copy of PowerPoint 97 Viewer, which is required to view the course content, and which must be installed in the default directory in order to properly utilize the menu-driven program. An Internet connection or a printer will be useful to access or print the hyperlinked resource list.

About the Course:

In this fast-paced session, recorded during the 1999 AAPS Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Allan Jenkins covers the roots and future of the Net, and how it will affect our lives and work. Plus, we will take a close look at making the Web work for you through intelligent searches and data mining. Finally, we will go beyond the Web to some of the Internet features that foster true "many to many" communications. Presenter Bio:

Allan Jenkins is Managing Director of Araneum A/S, "Denmark’s Web Agency of the Year". Before he joined Araneum in June 1999, he was Corporate Web Strategist for Novo Nordisk, where he was responsible for corporate Web and IntraNet communications, and where he helped develop Novo Nordisk Web sites in more than 50 countries.

Allan has been a "citizen of cyberspace" since 1991, and has been advising companies on new media communication and business since 1994. He is a frequent international speaker on Internet business, especially as it affects the pharmaceutical industry. He is a board member of the Danish chapter of the Internet Society.

Before joining Novo Nordisk in 1997, Allan was partner in Communications Alliance, a Danish communications agency, where he planned and designed Scandinavia’s first interactive financial services Web site. Prior to that, Allan was senior corporate communications specialist in the Scandinavian offices of McKinsey & Company, a management consulting firm.
