Jashvant (Jash) Unadkat, Ph.D. is a Professor of Pharmaceutics at the University of
Washington, Seattle. He received his Bachelors degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) from the University of London (1977),
his Ph.D. from the University of Manchester (1982) and his postdoctoral training at the University of California at San Francisco (1982-85). Dr. Unadkat’s research interests are focused
on elucidating the mechanisms of transport of anti-AIDS and anti-cancer drugs across the intestine, placenta and the blood-brain/CSF barrier by the
nucleoside and the ABC transporters. Dr. Unadkat has published more than 85 peer-reviewed research papers. Dr. Unadkat is a fellow of AAPS
and the founding member and the past chair (1999-2001) of the focus group of AAPS on Drug Transport and Uptake. Dr.
Unadkat is a former Associate Editor and a present editorial board member of the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, an Associate Editor of AAPS PharmSci, and a member of the
NIH Pharmacology study section (2000-2004).
